Gray And Chilly For Now

Good Morning!

I have been busy and a little sick the last couple of days, hence no blog updates.  I will have to own up to a precipitation bust based on the forecast that I put out for us on Thanksgiving say, as we has some snow with some accumulation, especially as you travel north.  Not much of anything in the blog area per se, but still snow is snow.  At any rate, let's pop the hood and see what's running the next few days.

SUMMARY:  Cloudy skies and snow flurries or even some light snow have been the rule the last few days.  Temperatures have stayed around freezing all day and dropped back into the mid 20's during the nighttime hours.  We change that pattern a little bit today, with a peek or two at some sunshine and temperatures that climb just a couple of degrees.  That being said, we'll have more than enough clouds to generate some snow flurries, so don't get too excited though, as we'll see readings give back any gains they make today and go back to the near freezing regime.  If forecast models have it right, a warm-up is on the way in time for the weekend, with temperatures climbing into the lower 50's by a week from today!  That will feel nice for the first week of December.  Now, for all you fine folks in the North zone of the blog, it appears that the summary will fit for you all too, you'll just need to knock 3-5 degrees off the forecast temperatures as I write them for Jackson County typically.

PRECIPITATION:  Nothing of any real substance in this part of the world.  It's a totally different story in the Upper Peninsula, as well over toward Saginaw and Alpena.  Six inches of snow or so are on the ground in the U.P., with snow amounts around an inch or so in Saginaw County.

It should be fairly quiet regarding anything falling from the sky until the weekend, when we see a shot at some rain showers as temperatures climb back toward 50 degrees.  Here's a look at the current five day precipitation forecast:

5 Day Precipitation Forecast
Just a trace of precipitation in the area expected through 7 AM Friday.

SEVERE WEATHER:  Nothing in this part of the nation for the next three days according to the Storm Prediction Center, however there is a "slight" risk for severe weather in the ArkLaTex and far eastern Oklahoma for tomorrow.

Here's a look at the current temperatures.  We haven't made it above freezing quite yet in South Central Michigan...

And there's plenty of clouds in the visible satellite image.
