Gooorgeous Now...Isaac's Leftovers May Dampen The Weekend...

Hello Again!

Now that the frontal system has moved through, we have high pressure parked over us, and beautiful weather on tap for the next few days in South Central Michigan.  The big weather story of course is Tropical Storm Isaac, as he lines up Mississippi and Louisiana for a landfall target.  We'll delve a bit into that a little later.  At this point, we may see some impact from what's left of Isaac, but that's it.  Deeper dive, here we go...

TEMPERATURES:  The temperature profiles here hold constant right through the end of the week.  We'll see temperatures stay in the 75-83 range during the day, and the night could see lows flirting with the upper 40's.  We'll see low humidity and mild conditions.  All in all, WONDERFUL.

RAIN:  We don't see any rain in the forecast again until the weekend.  Friday and Saturday, we'll have a chance at some scattered showers in the area, especially in the the south zone of the blog, but after that, we should be in decent shape for Labor Day.  It's hard to believe that the unofficial end of summer is in sight.  It certainly was a hot and dry one, for the record books.  Enjoy these last few days of summer, keep an umbrella handy for the weekend.  Here's a look at the National Weather Service's rain forecast for the next five days:

5 Day Precipitation Forecast
As you can see, there is plenty of moisture available from what will be left of Isaac as he comes ashore.  Right now we are expected to be just north of the heavier rain.  This is subject to change, as the final track is tweaked and changed in subsequent model runs and forecasts.

SEVERE WEATHER:  Nothing is expected here in Michigan for the next three days according to the Storm Prediction Center.  All of the severe weather in the country seems to be confined to the areas impacted by Isaac making landfall.

ISAAC:  It's a fair presumption that people all over the nation, and especially meteorologists and weather fanatics, now have their eyes turned toward the Gulf Coast as Isaac lumbers in toward landfall.  Here's a look at the latest track map from the National Hurricane Center...

Forecast Track  and information from Tropical Storm Isaac - National Hurricane Center
Alabama and Florida have Tropical Storm Warnings,  Mississippi and the east half of the Louisiana Gulf Coast have Hurricane Warnings.  Isaac is tracking NE at 10 MPH, and has maximum sustained winds of 70 MPH.  The western half of Louisiana has a Tropical Storm Warning, and Texas has a Tropical Storm Watch.  If you refer to the graphic of rainfall in the rain section above, you will see that the big rains come all the way up into Indiana and Ohio into the weekend.  This situation will continue to develop and change as the day progresses, so keep a good source of information at hand if you have friends or family down toward the Gulf Coast.

Mandatory evacuations of the coast have been undertaken in Louisiana and Mississippi.

OK, back to closer to home.  We will have plenty of time to deal with any leftover rain from Isaac coming this way in due course.  The satellite shows beautiful clear skies...
