The National Weather Service has extended the Heat Advisory until 8 PM Friday evening. The text of the advisory is below:
THE HEAT ADVISORY IS NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT FRIDAY.
HAZARDOUS WEATHER...
* HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE LOWER TO MID 90S THIS AFTERNOON AND
THURSDAY AFTERNOON...AND AROUND 90 FRIDAY AFTERNOON.
* HEAT INDICES AROUND 100 DEGREES TODAY AND THURSDAY...95 TO 100
DEGREES FRIDAY...MAINLY BETWEEN 1 PM AND 6 PM.
* HEAT INDICES WILL DROP ONLY INTO THE MID TO UPPER 70S THURSDAY
AND FRIDAY MORNINGS.
IMPACTS...
* HEAT EXHAUSTION OR HEAT STROKE IS POSSIBLE IF NO
PRECAUTIONARY ACTIONS ARE TAKEN.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
* TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN
POSSIBLE...RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO EARLY MORNING OR
EVENING. KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND
HEAT STROKE. WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING WHEN
POSSIBLE AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.
