Mighty Nice Monday!

Good Morning!

We get to see some sunshine in Jackson today after a couple of days worth of clouds.  We'll also start to moderate the temperatures a bit as we go.  Not a whole lot going on in this part of the world as I write the forecast, here are the readings from around the area from about 10:20 AM…

As you can see, no precipitation anywhere.  Let's take a deeper dive:

TEMPERATURES:  With just a few passing clouds today, we'll get close to 60 again but I don't think we'll quite get there in Jackson.  All the models are in agreement that mid to upper 50's is about where we'll land.  We'll see nighttime lows drop back to the mid 30's pretty much through the forecast window.

RAIN:  I said last night that computer model mayhem could ensue today, but it looks like they all got up on the right side of the bed and for the most part don't have any huge differences.  It still looks like the best shot at rain will be tomorrow, but anything we pick up should be fairly scattered in nature.  We do have to keep strong thunderstorms in the back of our minds forecast-wise, because of an upper wave that should be moving through tomorrow.  Out ahead of it, some elevated storms may fire.

SEVERE WEATHER:  We don't expect anything major in Michigan the next three days, just a general risk for today and tomorrow.  Here's today's forecast from the Storm Prediction Center:

The "general" risk covers basically all of the upper Midwest, including Michigan.  The "slight" risk is way off to the southwest of us.  Here's SPC's take on Day 2:

The "general" risk stays with the south half of the lower peninsula, and the "slight" risk is confined to the south half of Tornado Alley.  There's a surface low that just isn't moving a whole lot out that way, that's why you have the same areas with a "slight" risk two days in a row.  Notice also that the "general" risk covers pretty much the entire eastern half of the country!  It is April, and this is prime unsettled weather season.  With that out of the way, currently sunny and 45 degrees in Jackson at the airport, 34 is the dew point, winds E at 10 MPH, 65% relative humidity.  It's time for the pinpoint local forecast for Jackson and surrounding communities including Rives Junction and Spring Arbor.

Today, mostly sunny, a few passing clouds, high temperature of 56, ESE winds 7-15 MPH.

Tonight, a mix of clouds and stars, there is a chance of a passing shower, lows down to 37, winds SE 7-15 MPH.

Tuesday, mostly cloudy, but a few peeks of sun, a 45% chance of scattered showers or a thunderstorm, any storms that develop could become strong, daytime high near 64.  WSW winds 10-15 MPH.  Any places that do pick up rain should see a quarter-inch before dinnertime.

Tuesday night, rain should be gone by 9 PM, cloudy early then clearing, lows around 39, N winds 7-15 MPH.

Wednesday, a few clouds early then sunny, high of 57, NNE winds 7-15 MPH.

Thursday, mostly sunny, cooler, high of 51, ENE winds 7-15 MPH.

Friday, lots of sunshine, high near 56, E winds 7-15 MPH

Saturday, a mix of clouds and sun, pleasant, high of 57, SE winds 7-15 MPH.
